about

Essays Before A Sonata is an eclectic mix of genres and timbres, yet each of the three pieces came together under nearly identical circumstances - member Taylor Schultz would bring in a seed of an idea that would serve as the basis for extended group improvisations. These sessions would eventually be organized into larger, more cohesive pieces based loosely on classical sonata form.
